My
friends and colleagues, whose children have the challenge of speaking
their parents' language at home and English at school, helped translate
my stories in their native languages.
They encouraged me to keep working and creating
more stories. Their kids have been my main critics and I appreciated
their thoughts and reactions after a first reading.
Silvia Zonin (Graphic
Designer): my younger sister has more than 25 years
experience in advertising and publishing. She designs my book covers
and teaches me the nuance of color management and printing.
William W. Bjorge(Senior
Software Architect) and Julia Bjorge:
my husband has encouraged me to publish these stories that I had
written years ago for my daughter. He is my editor for all the English
versions and a great coach.
My
daughter has helped me write part of the stories and rephrase
sentences for easier reading.
Simonetta
Mocci,
PhD, MD (Senior Scientist): I like to talk to Simonetta about my
projects during the initial phase to get a second opinion. She also
has edited the Italian versions of my books. Her daughter has
presented my first book at school for a book report and has received
lots of praise and a certificate for free ice cream.
Wouter
Korver,
PhD (Senior Scientist): originally from Holland, he has traslated
"Julia and Her Pet Fish" into Dutch. His two daughters
are enthusiastic readers and have loved my books very much.
Helena
Punnonen (University
Student): she lives in Finland and she is Simonetta's step-daughter.
She has translated two of my books into Finnish to help her little
sister
speak her language, besides Italian and English. She is planning to
sell
the books in Finland.
Chamorro
Somoza,
PhD (Senior Scientist): native of Northern Spain, she has helped
translate two of my books into Castillian. Her dog Violeta presides
our working sessions trying to stir some attention, with
little whines and squinty eyes that just makes you melt.
Heidi Wandell
(my sister-in-law): she was my main inspiration for "Heidi's Curls".
She helped me organize readings and sales at her school. Her girls love
my books. Her older daughter is a wonderful collaborator and gave the
voice to my android game "Lose your socks".
